Still here.

Rising at 5am-it's still dark and the rain is bucketing down.  The ground is absolutely saturated and we have pools of water everywhere.  The water is now threatening to spill into the sheds and I'm pondering on what I have to move to a higher postition in my garden shed, to keep it from getting damaged.
Luckily not too long ago, I transferred a lot of my storage to plastic 'tubbies'.  Aren't they the most useful storage containers that were ever invented?

I know that there was a large cardboard box full of linen and fabric ready to be taken to charity.  I imagine it will be all wet and mouldy by now. Sadly it will go 'wholus bolus' to the dump when I'm brave enough to go in there after the rain has gone. The forecast is for  the rain to ease up over the next day or two. I do hope so, as I'm just about over it now!

The last week I've been keeping myself busy. You know ....sorting, tidying, cleaning. I've been out to stock up on groceries and I made the supreme effort to join the gym. I've had a few sessions and am enjoying my time there but I just wish I could go every morning instead of twice a week. Alas - the soaring price of fuel stops me.  It's times like this I miss living in the city.

We had one day when the rain stopped and the fierce winds came. It was enough for me to be able to mow the yards so that I didn't lose Lucy in the long grass when she went out for a 'twinkle'. Now I'm glad I did manage to mow as it's so darn soggy now, she's having to gingerly lift her legs high in the air just to walk out there. Gives me a bit of a giggle anyway, although she's not very impressed!

I've been out three times to put the pool pump to 'waste' and let some of the water out.  Yes the words 'waste' on the pump are so right. Not too long ago we were needing this water.  Now we have too much. Crazy isn't it?

Has anyone heard from Mary?
Hoping she's ok as I think she is where the tornado went through.

I too hope Mary and all the people in the tornado areas are okay. It sounded awful from the news. I also have just written a post about our rainy days which I have enjoyed. I suppose if there was too much of it I wouldn't be too thrilled. I also have several of the rubber tubbies and saw the value of them after we had a flood in the basement, not due to the rain but to broken pipes. Hope your rain stops soon :)

I went out and bought a few plastic containers after I'd had the disaster with my Christmas stuff, so everything is now quite safe and dry. It also looks much tidier too.

I hope you don't get much more rain.

Another rainy day down here in paradise - thankfully its a lot quieter as the wind has dropped. Sunshine and showers are forecast for the rest of the week. I do hope yours clears up soon, also don't envy you having to sort out the shed.
Take care Susan

Wet and moldy, oh, that will be bad. Sorry you are having so much rain. Good that you are signed up at the gym! Living in town does have it's advantages.

Try to stay dry!

You're right. We pray and pray for rain because we need it and then pray for it to stop when it comes in torrents!

You joined a gym? I've threatened to do the same thing for years... You go girl!

Blessings, Debbie

Hi Maa...I can certainly see why you're 'over' this rainy weather in your part of the world. hopefully the worst is over and the rain eases and stops. Sorry to hear that some of your things have been damaged by water.
Predictions are that SE Qld is in for a deluge over the next day or so too.Like you I hate having to let water out of the tanks when they inflow can't handle the water.

I was thinking of you over the weekend with all the rain in SW NSW, I hope it stops soon for you. Warragamba dam spilt over on Friday night and cut of North Richmond and Windsor bridges on Saturday but reopened on Sunday as we didn't get as much rain as they predicted. Try and stay dry!

Hope your rain has calmed down a bit now Susan. That's a pain about your shed - they're great to store things in, just keep packing things in, but when those things get wet ... oh dear.
Had a chuckle at poor Lucy's expense.
Yes, hope Mary is ok - I didn't realise the tornado may have been in her part of the country.

Oh Maa keep dry I was wondering how you were doing.
That must be very hard to watch.
It is a sunny snow-less cold day in my part of Canada yes very weird weather the whole world is experiencing. Take care be safe. Gas is $1.30 a liter here I do think city living is easier with that price as I have to drive everywhere for the smallest of things, but I do love that. Take care Maa B
