Rising at 5am-it's still dark and the rain is bucketing down. The ground is absolutely saturated and we have pools of water everywhere. The water is now threatening to spill into the sheds and I'm pondering on what I have to move to a higher postition in my garden shed, to keep it from getting damaged.
Luckily not too long ago, I transferred a lot of my storage to plastic 'tubbies'. Aren't they the most useful storage containers that were ever invented?
I know that there was a large cardboard box full of linen and fabric ready to be taken to charity. I imagine it will be all wet and mouldy by now. Sadly it will go 'wholus bolus' to the dump when I'm brave enough to go in there after the rain has gone. The forecast is for the rain to ease up over the next day or two. I do hope so, as I'm just about over it now!
The last week I've been keeping myself busy. You know ....sorting, tidying, cleaning. I've been out to stock up on groceries and I made the supreme effort to join the gym. I've had a few sessions and am enjoying my time there but I just wish I could go every morning instead of twice a week. Alas - the soaring price of fuel stops me. It's times like this I miss living in the city.
We had one day when the rain stopped and the fierce winds came. It was enough for me to be able to mow the yards so that I didn't lose Lucy in the long grass when she went out for a 'twinkle'. Now I'm glad I did manage to mow as it's so darn soggy now, she's having to gingerly lift her legs high in the air just to walk out there. Gives me a bit of a giggle anyway, although she's not very impressed!
I've been out three times to put the pool pump to 'waste' and let some of the water out. Yes the words 'waste' on the pump are so right. Not too long ago we were needing this water. Now we have too much. Crazy isn't it?
Has anyone heard from Mary?
Hoping she's ok as I think she is where the tornado went through.
